My latest original drawing
Reach is one of a new series of horse drawings, which I've always admired as among the noblest animals. This drawing was born thanks to the help of a generous neighbor, Myra Lewis, on a hot August afternoon. She summoned her brood of quadrupeds with a handful of “horse candy”, while I snapped away with my f/1.8 prime lens affixed in the late afternoon sunlight. (The horse’s shoulder was out of focus in the reference shot, but I just sharpened it up in the drawing.) The drawing’s texture is an homage to Paul Calle, one of the most technically capable pencil artists I know; and I think it captures a feeling both of the animal’s hair and its power.
The unframed original is available for purchase. The image is 40” wide by 20” high, on 500lb. acid-free Strathmore Bristol Board with ~1.25" matting border. It will be framed with locally grown and milled cedar with a natural edge and minimal finish, approximately 4” wide.
Prints are available.
List price: $3,499 unframed (excludes tax & shipping).
Framed limited edition prints will be available with free shipping.
